Journaling is my prayer
I have been wondering if it’s worth sharing my writings and where to share them. I feel like journaling is often a significant part of my creative process. Whether it’s at the beginning before I bring brush to canvas, or when the project is done and I am looking back to where I started.
Growing up, when I had challenges, my parents would often say “pray about it.” Although they meant well, praying (at least in the religious way I was taught) did not click.
Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication.
What did stick at a young age was journaling. Often my journals were loose flowing stanza’s that sometimes became poems. Through journaling I often found ways to communicate and in return was able to access my own insight and wisdom. Journaling, is now, parallel and sometime in line with other creative projects I am exploring.
This all being said, I can’t think of any better place to share my prayers than next to my art.
